Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polynucleotide with which a dog individual having genetic natures useful for human beings can easily be selected, to provide a polypeptide, and to provide a method for selecting the useful dog. SOLUTION: This polynucleotide comprises a specific sequence encoding the genetic polymorphism of the exon of a dog dopamine receptor D4 gene or a specific sequence encoding the genetic polymorphism of the intron of the same gene. The polypepide is the genetic product of the polynucleotide. The method for selecting the useful dog is characterized by comprising examining the allele of the exon or intron and then selecting the useful dog on the basis of the genotype of the allele. The most simple method for selecting the useful dog comprises extracting a genome DNA from a dog individual, performing a PCR reaction with a pair of PCR primers bound to both the ends of the allele, and then identifying the genotype of the allele on the basis of the length of the obtained PCR product.
