IMAGE DISTORTION CORRECTION UNIT, IMAGE READING UNIT, IMAGE FORMING UNIT, PROGRAM, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image distortion correction unit, an image reading unit, an image forming unit, program, and a storage medium, where a good image distortion correction result is obtained even if the positions of top (or bottom) character of character lines in columnar writing is widely fluctuated in vertical directions for each line. SOLUTION: The character lines in columnar writing used for calculating a polynomial approximated curve are extracted limited to the ones having a constant positional relationship based on the positional information of the top of character line (or the bottom of character line) of the character lines in columnar writing (shown by a shaded rectangle). Accordingly, the character lines in columnar writing can be extracted limited to the ones having a constant positional relationship based on the positional information of the top of character line (or the bottom of character line) of the character lines in columnar writing, to obtain the good image distortion correction result even if the positions of the top (or bottom) characters of character lines in columnar writing are fluctuated widely in vertical directions by each line.
