description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer which can reduce generation of a sticking phenomenon more than in a conventional structure under conditions in which a time before a platen roller rotates next after a heating element drives, and the other factors related to the generation of the sticking phenomenon such as each coefficient of friction of a recording paper, a thermal head and the platen roller become the same. SOLUTION: In the thermal printer which carries out printing and paper feeding in a state while a paper is held between the thermal head where the heating element is set, and the platen roller pressed to the thermal head, the center of a rotating pivot 7 for rotatably supporting the thermal head 3 is set to superpose on an extension line of a head face 3a, and moreover, a working force of a spring 4 for generating a pressing force between the thermal head 3 and the platen roller 2 is directed to be perpendicular to the head face 3a.
