Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high quality gas discharge type display device which hardly brings about a failure of discharge even when a panel temperature is dropped to cause a temperature distribution, by adopting a driving method of delaying write discharge of the upper side in a gas discharge type display device having a large screen which is perpendicularly stood generally to be seen. SOLUTION: The gas discharge type display device is provided with a gas discharge panel and a driving circuit. The gas discharge panel includes a plurality of display electrodes 102 constituted of scanning electrodes 102a and maintaining electrodes 102b and address electrodes 112 which face the display electrodes 102 with a discharge space between them and are provided so as to be approximately orthogonal to the display electrodes 102. The driving circuit performs write discharge in order from scanning electrodes 102b connected to discharge cells in lower-temperature areas toward those connected to discharge cells in higher-temperature areas in accordance with temperature distribution of the gas discharge panel.
