METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RESTORING CONFIGURATION OF NETWORK DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for restoring the configuration of network devices. SOLUTION: Configuration managers inside the network devices store configuration data in a format conforming to a standard markup language such as an extensible markup language (XML) to store the configured version of the network devices. This format includes a series of corresponding tags and values indicating the contents of an internal data structure in the memory of a router including the stored version of the configuration. At the time of restoration, a parser syntactically analyzes values from the tags, and the configuration managers restore the contents of an internal data structure in the memory of the router to syntactically analyzed values in accordance with the corresponding tags.
