Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a low molecular-weight sulfated cellulose, which has a high curative effect on a corneal or conjunctival trouble caused by a physical, chemical or mechanical damage to the cornea or conjunctiva and on an endogenous corneal or conjunctival trouble. SOLUTION: The sulfated cellulose having therein a hydroxyl group sulfated is a sulfated cellulose in which the numbers of SO3groups on a monosaccharide repeating unit is on the average 2.6 or more; the salt of the above sulfated cellulose is the one which is pharmacologically permissible. The curative or preventive medicine for a corneal or conjunctival disease and the curative or preventive medicine for a dry eye have each as an effective component the above sulfated cellulose or a slat thereof which is pharmacologically permissible.
