description | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulating section steel which is good in workability, low in manufacturing cost, and high in heat insulation property, and to provide a method for manufacturing the heat insulating section steel. SOLUTION: According to the method for manufacturing the heat insulating section steel, an indoor-side section steel 2 and an outdoor-side section steel 3 are connected together by a pair of heat insulating bridge members 4, 4, and therefore the indoor-side section steel 2, the outdoor-side section steel 3, and the heat insulating bridge members 4, 4 cooperatively form a hollow portion 6. Then, a semirigid resin foam 5 which is expansion-molded so as to have a cross section almost equal to or larger than that of the hollow portion 6, is compressed so as to have a cross section smaller than that of the hollow portion 6, and the former is squeezed into the latter. After the squeezing, the semirigid foam resin 5 is contact-bonded to the heat insulating bridge members 4, 4 by virtue of its self-restoring operation in an attempt to restore its cross section to the original one.
