description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance connecting strength between a front member and a rear member. SOLUTION: The front side member 1 is integrally molded to a cylindrical shape of closed cross section and is constituted by the front member 3 absorbing energy by crush-deforming by an input load from a front part of a car body and the rear member 5 connected to a rear end part of the front member 3. Electrodeposition coating is applied to the front member 3, and a nut plate 29 is contained therein. The rear member 5 has an open cross section with an upper side thereof opened. Three faces in a connection part 9 of the rear member 5, namely, a bottom face 11 and right and left side faces 13, 15 are brought into contact with three faces in a lower part of a connection part 7 of the front member 3, respectively, to clamp bolts to nuts 37 of the nut plate 29, thereby bonding the front member 3 and the rear member 5.
