SOLUTION: The active oxygen scavenger and the cosmetic composition contain at least one extracted product of a plant selected from the group consisting of Prunus salicina Lindley, Filipendula multijuga Maxim., Aegle marmelos (L) Correa, Synsepalum dulcificum D. (Sinderoxylon dulcificum A. DC), Eriodictyon californicum (Hook. et Arn) Torr, and Cymbopogon citratus (DC) Stapf (C. flexuosus Stapf). The scavenger possesses the activity for removing activated oxygen, the cosmetic composition gives gloss and tension to the skin, the composition is capable of improving eczema and rough skin, and is effective for preventing aging of the skin and scalp.
