Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory controller that can process to write a data string into a flash memory device in a high speed. SOLUTION: A memory controller accesses to n+1 units of memory devices, each of which is comprised of a plurality of physical blocks, based on a address issued by a host system. The controller is provided with a means to assign the plurality of the physical blocks belonging to the memory devices, which are different from each other, after configuring a virtual block, which consists of 2X units of cells where X is a number for required bits to represent n in the binary number system, and a means to assign the addresses being issued by the host system, which are adjoined each other, to the physical blocks that are different each other in the virtual block. Consequently, each physical block being accessed can act independently and, concurrently, a number for units of the cells comprising the virtual blocks always becomes equal to the exponent of 2. Therefore, the controller can prevent a hardware configuration to become complicated.
