METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RECORDING AND REPRODUCING OPTICAL DISK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the disk recognition time in the view from a host computer side concerning a recordable disk such as CD-R/CD-RW. SOLUTION: This method has a step S46 for judging whether an optical disk set to an optical disk recording and reproducing device is an optical disk having a high possibility of recording or not and a step S47 for processing the acquisition of disk information required for recording onto the optical disk on the side of the host computer during spin-up processing while being linked within the same processing when it is judged in the step S46 that the optical disk has a high possibility of recording, and concerning the disk having a high possibility of recording, since disk information is returned to the host computer in a step S4E without executing a step S4D for acquiring the disk information after the completion of spin-up (step S4A), the disk recognition time can be shortened when loading the recordable optical disk.
