Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a starting characteristic of a dielectric barrier discharge lamp. SOLUTION: The dielectric barrier lamp is provided with the elongated electrode (3) which is arranged on the inside surface of the wall of a discharge vessel (2) and covered by a dielectric layer (4). The metal ring (8) which is limited with reference to the longitudinal axis to an area of the discharge vessel as an electrically conductive member is arranged on the outside surface of the discharge vessel (2). The starting performance when first being started, or after a long operational pause is improved thereby.
