FLUORESCENCE DETECTION SENSOR FOR PAPER SHEETS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescence detection sensor for paper sheets, which can appropriately monitor the quantity of light of a light emitting element inside a casing. SOLUTION: There is danger to disable the exact inspection of paper sheets 7 (the denomination and authentication of paper money, for example), when light, with which paper sheets in the middle of conveyance are irradiated, is not damaged in a fixed state at all the time. In order to eliminate such trouble, an illumination monitor 18 is located toward an illumination window 15 and light reflected on an inside surface 15a of the illumination window 15 is received by the illumination monitor 18. In such a case, the illumination monitor 18 has a monitor area S on a conveyance route 4 since it is turned toward the illumination window 15. Then, as a device for preventing the illumination monitor 18 from picking up the reflected light from the paper sheets, the illumination monitor 18 is turned toward the illumination window 15 so that the monitor area S can be positioned outside an illumination area R.
