SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING INFORMATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for providing information which enable a meticulous advertising activities coherent to a place or a region and adaptive to each environment as necessary. SOLUTION: This information providing system is provided with a video monitor 121 arranged in a portable or mobile medium for displaying a plurality of pieces of information including at least picture information, a semiconductor memory 122 for storing a plurality of pieces of information, a selection control part 123 for selecting the specific information from those information, and for making a video monitor 121 display it, a GPS device 124 for detecting the position of the portable or mobile medium as position information, and an information selecting means 111 for acquiring the position information from the GPS device 124, and for outputting a selection signal based on this position information. When acquiring the selection signal, the selection control means 111 makes the video monitor 121 display the prescribed information corresponding to the selection signal from the plurality of the pieces of information stored in the semiconductor memory 122.
