Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start an engine with a simple operation based on a driver's intention aside from the automatic starting of the engine in the economical running mode. SOLUTION: When a start signal outputted from a start operation switch 5 is inputted while the economical running mode is executed by an economical running ECU 4, a start control device 6 cancels the economical running mode and executes the engine starting mode. In the engine starting mode, the starter 2 is started to start the engine, and after that, the motion till the current carry to the starter 2 is stopped is made by the on/off control of a control element 10. Accordingly, as the engine can be kept idling, the delay of the time before the start of the vehicle can be reduced. This prevents an unskilled driver from annoying drivers of other vehicles when the driver doesn't want to delay the time to start the vehicle, so that the psychological burden on the driver can be effectively alleviated.
