SOLUTION: This method for producing a porous film comprises the following process: a resin composition comprising a polyolefin resin and a solvent is kneaded under melting, the resulting kneaded product is formed into a sheet, which, in turn, is rolled out and subjected to solvent elimination treatment; wherein the solvent elimination treatment is characterized by being made by fixing both ends in the cross direction of the sheet-like formed product followed by drying it with both the ends thereof left fixed. Batteries having the above porous films are also provided.
