SOLUTION: At first, the stone is dried under the atmospheric pressure of <=0.04 Mpa, while keeping the temperature at the water boiling temperature or higher at the atmospheric pressure. Then, the stone material is placed in a closed vessel together with osmotic water absorption preventing agent to impregnate it into the material while keeping the temperature at a boiling point of a solvent of the osmotic water absorption preventing agent or lower, under the pressure of <=0.08 Mpa. By this way, the permeative water absorption preventing agent permeates into the stone material sufficiently.
