description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber and a fixture usable therewith with simple structure, easy to mount, firmly fixable to an object, without adverse effect on the environment, and allowing reduction in material cost. SOLUTION: The shock absorber 10 has a cushioning material 11 and the fixture 13 for attaching the cushioning material to the object 12. The fixture 13 is provided with a latching portion 21 gradually widening in the direction of a subject and capable of contracting while having one or two or more cracks 25, 26, the latching portion 21 having a gap g to the subject 12. The fixture 13 has at its center a latching member 23 formed with a tapped hole 22, and a screw 42 passed through the tapped hole 22 to fix the latching member 23 to the object 12. The cushioning material 11 includes hard members 16 and 17 having respective mounting holes 19a and 20a in which the widened latching portion 21 fits so that the fixture 13 in a free state can be latched in place, and a hard member 15 integrated with the hard members 16 and 17 to provide shock absorption.
