Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for supplying a suitable charging pressure when a steering charging pressure drops to become too low. SOLUTION: A hydraulic steering system is provided with auxiliary charge by connecting the output of a transmission oil pump 54 to a steering charging pump 36 and providing a check valve 62 for preventing oil from flowing to the steering charging pump from the oil transmission pump unless the outlet pressure of the charging pump drops to the operating pressure of the transmission pump or lower. When the steering charging pressure drops to the pressure of transmission oil or lower, the check valve is opened to provide a main steering pump with oil by the transmission oil pump. A pressure transducer 64 of an oil line generates an alarm signal when the check valve is open for several minutes or longer, to warn a vehicle operator of a system failure.
