METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING WATER-ABSORBING POLYMER AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a water-absorbing polymer and an apparatus therefore, capable of judging, in an early stage, whether or not the polymerization proceeds in a desirable manner. SOLUTION: This apparatus for manufacturing a water-absorbing polymer comprises a polymerizer 18 for continuously polymerizing a supplied hydrophilic monomer, and further the infrared ray radiation thermometers T1-T6 as temperature detecting devices 27 located on the upper wall of the polymerizer 18. Manufacturing of a water-absorbing polymer by means of the manufacturing apparatus is carried out, measuring the reaction temperatures of the polymerization in a noncontact manner at a plurality of points of the polymerizer which are different from one another in distance from the supply point of the hydrophilic monomer by using the infrared ray radiation thermometers T1-T6.
