Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove ink mists adhered on a sensor of a high accuracy optical linear encoder. SOLUTION: A cleaning member 8s are provided on both surfaces of a linear encoder scale 5. A calculating unit moves a carriage 2 to a set standard position by a set timing. In the case the carriage 2 reaches the set position, position and speed control for a driving motor 13 is stopped temporarily. The driving motor 13 is driven by a constant current so that the carriage 2 is moved to the direction of the cleaning members 8. By sliding a linear encoder sensor 4 on the cleaning members 8 for a predetermined time, ink mists adhered on the linear encoder sensor 4 can be eliminated.
