DEVICE AND METHOD FOR SYNTHESIZING IMAGE AND IMAGE PICKUP DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for synthesizing an image and an image pickup device with which small picture synthesizing processing not to apply unnatural impressions can be performed while simplifying a circuit. SOLUTION: Concerning a first synthetic image 22 except for a reduced display image 27, a luminance level 23 is made to be maximum (0xFF). The luminance level of the reduced display image 27 is set lower than the maximum value. While using a comparator 25, it is detected whether the luminance level of the first synthetic image 22 is equal to or higher than a threshold 26 (0xFF) or not and when the luminance level of the first synthetic image is equal to or higher than the threshold, a picked-up image 20 is selected, when the luminance level of the first synthetic image is lower, the first synthetic image is selected so that a second synthetic image 29 can be generated.
