DIVICE NAD METHOD FOR SYNTHESIZING IMAGE AND IMAGE PICKUP DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for synthesizing an image and an image pickup device with which two input images in different sizes can be easily combined and a user can select a synthesizing mode. SOLUTION: A memory (1) 9 is connected to an image signal processing IC 3 and temporarily stores signals from the image signal processing IC 3. Besides, the color of an initial image changed into the same size as an output image is made monochromatic (blue, white or black) based on three synthesizing modes and a stick image is generated by sticking a still picture smaller than the output image to this monochromatic initial image. An image synthesizing part 5 is connected to a DV converting part 4, the memory (1) 9 and a switch SW6 and a picked-up image from the DV converting part 4 and the still picture from the memory (1) 9 are combined in the selected synthesizing mode among three synthesizing modes and outputted to the switch SW6.
