SOLUTION: In a washing apparatus wherein a washing cylinder 20 is provided in an outer cylinder 1 horizontally provided in a freely rotatable manner so as to be rotated along with the outer cylinder 1 and a separation screen 30 is provided to the outlet of the washing cylinder 20 and washing water is sprinkled over the excretion residue charged in the washing cylinder 20 to be agitated and sand discharged in the outer cylinder 1 from the separation screen 30 is discharged from the end part of the outer cylinder 1 by the screw blades 11 provided to the outer cylinder 1, a separation mechanism for mainly separating the discharged matter from the outer cylinder 1 into sand and impurities other than sand is provided.
