Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery having a safety means capable of securing safety and reliability of the battery through its blowing when the internal pressure has risen over the specified level caused by abnormal operation of the battery. SOLUTION: A secondary battery includes a rectangular case 40 made of aluminum or aluminum alloy in which bunch of electrodes and electrolyte are stored and sealed. The case 40 is equipped in the center of its side wall 42a with a thin groove part 46 thinner than the other parts of side wall 42a so that it blows first when the internal pressure of the case and the expansion pressure of the bunch of electrodes have risen over the specified level.
