description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink-jet recording medium excellent in surface smoothness, glossiness, ink absorptivity, water resistance, and scratch resistance by forming an ink receiving layer on a base material and laminating a porous resin layer containing cationic resin particles and a binder resin on the upper layer of the ink receiving layer. SOLUTION: An ink receiving layer is formed on an base material, and a porous resin layer containing cationic resin particles and a binder resin is laminated on the upper layer of the ink receiving layer to constitute an ink-jet recording medium. An acrylic resin having amino groups is preferable for the resin particles in view of costs and availability, the average particle size is preferably 5-50 μm, and the content is preferably 5-50 wt.%. Polyvinyl alcohol is preferable for the binder resin in terms of costs, handling, and others. The use of a porous layer containing boehmite and an alumina-coated oxide as the receiving layer improves ink absorptivity and color density.
