description | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a molded product containing glass fibers well dispersed therein, excellent in mechanical strength and impact strength and stabilized in qualities by mixing a polypropylenic resin in the shape of a mini-pellet with glass fibers having a specific diameter and a specific length and directly injection-molding it without melt-kneading. SOLUTION: With 100 pts.wt. of a polypropylene resin having an MFR of 30-300 g/10 min and the shape of a mini-pellet having a diameter of 0.4-1.5 mm and a length of 0.5-15 mm are admixed 5-100 pts.wt. of a glass fiber having a diameter of 8-20 μm and a length of 2-15 mm to give a glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene resin composition for direct injection molding. Desirably, the ratio of the length Lp of the mini-pellet to the length of the glass fiber Lf (Lp/Lf) is 1/10 to 2. Combination of the polypropylene resin with 0.01-10 pts.wt., based on 100 pts.wt. of the glass fiber, of a polypropylene resin modified with an unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof further improves the mechanical strength. This composition is subjected to a direct injection molding to give a molded product. |
