Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new gene coding for a desulfurizing enzyme which has a specific amino acid sequence, functions as a ferredoxin reductase subunit of DBT dioxygenase, converts a thiophene-based compound into a water-soluble compound, and can be used for removing sulfur from fossil fuels and so on. SOLUTION: This is a new gene coding for a desulfurizing enzyme which has the amino acid sequence shown by the formula or an amino acid sequence prepared by deleting, substituting, adding, or inserting one or more amino acid(s) from, in, to, or into the amino acid sequence, has a function as a ferredoxin reductase subunit of dibenzothiophene (DBT) dioxygenase, catalyzes the conversion from a thiophene-based compound to a water-soluble compound, and allows easily removing sulfur components from fossil fuels and so on. This enzyme is obtained by screening a DNA library derived from Burkholderia sp. strain C1 for a DBT-degrading activity.
