description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly illuminate all parts of a medium to be exposed and to obtain optimum image quality by leading out one part of light emitted by an image forming device with a beam splitter and guiding it onto a sensor having at least one row. SOLUTION: An image generating device is constituted of two DMDs 11 and 12, and images from the DMDs are coupled to be one image by the beam splitter 13. The two DMDs 11 and 12 are illuminated by an LED 14 or 15 and the light beams therefrom are respectively coupled in an optical path through the beam splitters 16 and 17. The coupled light beam is modulated by two DMDs 11 and 12 and the modulation is controlled by using digital image data by a controller 18. The image coupled by the beam splitter 13 is formed on photographic paper 20 through an objective lens 19. The same reference image formed on the back side of the beam splitter (as seen from the photographic paper) is formed on a CCD 22 through an objective lens 21.
