description | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the influence on the rest of the battery cells by detecting the operating conditions of battery cells and, when there are some battery cells whose operating conditions are out of a specified range, diverting current and bypassing those battery cells through bypass modules. SOLUTION: A charging controller 36 is electrically connected to each bypass module 32 which has a conduction mode and a non-conduction mode which is a normal state. When the operating condition of a certain battery cell 24 exceeds a specified value, the charging controller 36 switches the mode of the corresponding bypass module into a conduction mode to divert current and to bypass the battery cell 24. To be more specific, the temperatures of the battery cells 24 are measured by means of respective sensors 34. When a temperature comparator (for example, an operational amplifier) detects that a signal from a temperature transducer exceeds a specified value, it generates an overtemperature signals. Based on this signal, the charging controller 36 switches the mode of the bypass module of the battery cell into a conduction mode to divert current and to bypass the battery cell. As a result, there is no influence on the rest of the battery cells. |
