description | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a sublimed substance from depositing on a spinneret surface, prolong the period for correcting the spinneret surface (removing deposits from the peripheries of spinneret holes) and obtain polyphenylene sulfide fibers excellent in quality by sealing the spinneret surface with an inert gas under specified conditions. SOLUTION: A cylindrical unit 6 having a yarn passage hole in the center and used for blowing off quench air is installed under a spinneret 1 and an inert gas such as nitrogen is blown from a space between the cylindrical unit 6 and the spinneret 1 toward an upward connecting part 3 of the spinneret 1 and a pack 2 to seal the surface of the spinneret 1 with the inert gas. Thereby, melt spinning of the polyphenylene sulfide fibers is carried out. The number of holes in the spinneret is preferably 100-4,000 and the melt flow rate of the polyphenylene sulfide polymer is preferably about 230 g/10 min. The flow rate of the blown off gas is preferably 3-10 m3/min. |
