SIDE WEIR IN TWIN ROLL TYPE HORIZONTAL POURING CONTINUOUS CASTING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side weir in a twin roll type horizontal pouring continuous casting apparatus, in which the broken-down of a sliding material is prevented and the stable continuous casting operation can be executed. SOLUTION: In the side weir in the twin roll type horizontal pouring continuous casting apparatus, in which the sliding member 14 is disposed in the side weir body 13 and an annular projecting part 1a on the end surface of an upper roll and the peripheral surface 2a of a lower roll 2, are sealed with the sliding member to form a molten metal pool part, the sliding member 14n near the kiss point approaching in the nearest position between the upper and the lower rolls 1, 2, is formed substantially as the structure with steps 14j, 14k. The structure with steps 14j, 14k is constituted with the upper roll approaching part 14j disposed at the upper roll side and an embedding part 14k disposed at the side weir body side and partially embedded in the body. Then, this side weir for the twin roll type horizontal pouring continuous casting apparatus is formed as the cross section of the embedded part 14k at least near the kiss point having wider width than the cross section of the rear part thereof (the molten metal pool part side).
