VOICE COMPRESSION AND EXPANSION DEVICE AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide voice compression/expansion device/method which can reduce the scale of a whole system incorporating a storage device without the need of a large storage device compared to a former one even if voice information data of large capacity are recorded. SOLUTION: At the time of recording voice information data by aiming at information of a frequency contained in the voice signal of a sound source 101 and using a key control system, a frequency component contained in voice is compressed in a band compression device 106 with a compression rate given from a compression/expansion are indication device 108 as a key. At the time of reproducing recording data, it is expanded in a band expansion device 107 with an expansion rate given from the compression expansion rate indication device 108 as a key. Thus, a sampling rate for digitizing voice is decreased and data quantity to be stored is reduced. Much more information can be stored in a storage device 103 and equal information quantity can be stored in the small storage device 103 on the other hand.
