BRANCHING PART OF OPTICAL FIBER RIBBON CORD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the branching part of an optical fiber ribbon cord which is excellent in assembling workability and high reliability in transmission characteristics. SOLUTION: A branch protective body 20 is arranged between the end of the optical fiber ribbon cord 2 and an optical fiber single core reinforcing cord 9. A sheath 6 at the end of the optical fiber ribbon cord 2 and a tensile fiber (Kevler) 5 exposed by peeling this sheath 6 are caulked and fixed to this branch protective body 20. A polyvinyl chloride(PVC) sheath 11a at the end of the optical fiber single core reinforcing cord 9 and a tension fiber (Kevler) 11b exposed by peeling this PVC sheath are caulked and fixed to thereto. Detaining projections 31, 32, 33 processed to the respective caulking parts of the branch protective body 20 are protected by covering the branch protective body 20 with a branching part case 30 provided projectingly on the inner surface.
