description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the dropping of refractory piece, etc., from a constricting part and to safely execute the partial repairing work in a furnace by executing the repairing of the refractory at the lower part from the constricting part refractory after fixing the constricting part refractory by spraying a room temp. hardening monolithic refractory onto the refractory surface of the constricting part in a converter. SOLUTION: A liftable scaffold 10 for repairing the refractory is elevated to near the furnace opening part 4 in the converter from the furnace bottom with a remote operation and a worker 11 removes slag and the refractory piece, etc., 13 which may cause the dropping danger in the constricting part, by hitting them with a bar 12, etc., while elevating/lowering the scaffold 10. Successively, the room temp. hardening monolithic refractory 14 is sprayed to the surface of the constricting part lining refractory 2 by using a spraying machine 15 to form a sprayed layer 16 having about 50-100 mm thickness. At the time of perfectly hardening the sprayed layer 16 of the monolithic refractory 14, the scaffold 10 is lowered to execute the repairing of the lining refractory 2 surrounding the bottom in the furnace. In this way, the refractory material cost and the furnace constriction working cost can be reduced.
