PURPOSE: To keep an image recording device in an out-of-the-way position and to documentate a treatment process by use of a handpiece which corresponds to a universal dental instrument in terms of size, shape, and handling by incorporating an image conductor and an optical waveguide into the handpiece. CONSTITUTION: An image conductor 3 and an optical waveguide 4 are incorporated into a dental spray type handpiece 1. The handpiece 1 is provided with a grip part 8, inside which a light source 7 rotatable about an axis and oriented to the optical wave guide 4, an objective lens 9, and a video camera 10 are mounted. A light deflecting device 5 for the image conductor 3 and/or for the optical waveguide 4 is placed at the front end. A hose connection 11 is provided at the other end of the grip part 8 to serve to connect a hose 12. Since conduits 15, 16 for air and water, respectively, are placed parallel to the image conductor 3 and the optical waveguide 4, all the conduits and conductors are stored in a space-saving manner. A monitor and a storage part equipped with an insturment can be functionally placed on a treatment chair.
