Zusammenfassung:Prepn. of o-phenylene diamine by catalytic hydrogenation of o-nitro aniline in the liq. phase, uses a fixed bed Ni catalyst on an aluminum-oxide or silicon-dioxide support. A 10-20 wt.% soln. of the starting material, in an organic solvent pref. in benzene, is prepd. This is reduced by hydrogen or a hydrogen contg. gas mixt. at 8-13 MPa pressure and 80-150 deg.C. The catalyst contains 10-50 wt.% Ni. The nitro-aniline based yield is 99.8% and selectivity is at least 99.9%.
