Zusammenfassung: | A carbon-contg. wear resistant coating is formed on a cutting tool by palcing the tool in a satd. soln. of a salt contg. a cation from Na, X, A5, Ca, Ga, Tl, La, Ce, Ta, for 5-10 mins.; remains the tool from the solution and evaporating the solvent to crystallise the salt on the surface; placing the tool into a vacuum chamber having cathodes; energises an arc discharge to evaporate a cathode of at least one gp. IVA, VA or VIA element; heating the tool by bombardment with cations to the salt decomposition temp.; switching off the arc and maintaining the temp. for 15.30 secs.; re-energising the arc and heating by cation bombardment to the carbidesation temp. of the evaporated cathode material; and introducing a gas reactant into the chamber to react with the cations to form the finial coating. |
