Zusammenfassung:The present invention provides a process and catalyst for the production of synthesis gas (a mixture of CO and H2) by partial oxidation of methane. The process provides a direct single step selective vapor phase partial oxidation of methane to synthesis gas over Pt-Ce02catalyst between temperature range of 350 'C to 800 'C at atmospheric pressure. The process provides a methane conversion of 28-95% with H2 to CO mole ratio of 1.6 to 2.
