Each contact element includes a slotted part (22, 27) formed for penetrating the insulation of and making contact with the conductor when an insulated conductor (16, 17) is inserted in the slot. Each first type contact furthermore includes a leg (20) with cutting edge (24) while each second type contact element includes a sprung part (28). The sprung part is formed such as to be taken by spring bias into engagement against the leg with sharp edge. For each pair of coacting contact element the terminal block also includes a part (35) with a cutting edge (36) situated at a distance from and between the leg with a cutting edge and the slotted part (27) of the second type contact element (26).
