Zusammenfassung:	A non-destructive method of testing welded seams is based on an ultrasonic check. The planes of polarisation of the transverse ultrasonic vibrations emitted in the weld and of those recorded after reflection by a defect are arranged in a specified way so as to separate the component which is horizontally polarised relative to the reflecting surface of the defect. The geometric parameters of a defect can be assessed from its amplitude, and its position from the time of its recording.
