In a method of producing a sheet of material with a printed embossed surface a sheet of absorbent paper containing titanium dioxide is relief printed using sufficient pressure to emboss the surface, and using a printing ink containing a dispersed pigment. In the described example the paper was made from sulphitebleached cellulose and contained 20% by weight of titanium dioxide. The printing surface was of steel etched by a photo-mechanical process. The ink had an alcoholic solvent and contained 34.8% lithopone, 11.9% iditol, 14.2% ethylene glycol, 38% ethanol and 1.1% scarlet pigment, all the percentages being by weight.
