Zusammenfassung: | 724,368. Cables. SOC. ANON. DE TELECOMMUNICATIONS. July 30, 1953 [July 30, 1952; Oct. 24, 1952], No. 21204/53. Class 36. In a high-frequency telephone cable including multiple cores such as balanced pairs or quads, the effective dielectric constant of the insulation of the cores forming the inner layers of the cable is less than that of the insulation of the cores forming the outer layers of the cable in order to equalize the high-frequency transmission characteristics of the cores near the cable sheath with those of the cores near the cable centre, the insulation of each of the conductors of the outer cores including a helically applied yarn of given diameter, and the insulation of at least some of the conductors 1 of the inner cores including two yarns 21, 22, twisted together and helically applied, each of the twisted yarns having a diameter equal to half the given diameter. Insulating tape 3 may be applied about the yarn-covered conductors, that used for the conductors of the outer cores being from one to one-and-a-half times as thick as that used for the inner cores. Where the cores consist of star quads, the quads in the inner layers may have shorter twist pitches than those in the outer layers, and the insulating cores of the inner quads may consist of two yarns twisted together and each having a diameter half that of a yarn used for the cores of the outer quads. |
