Zusammenfassung: | 684,708. Pile fabrics. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. May 4, 1951. [June 20, 1950] No. 15349/50. Class 140. Suedette sheet material is produced by coating a sheet of backing material, e.g. woven textile fabric or paper, with a mixture of a polymer or copolymer, e.g. with vinylidene chloride or vinyl acetate, of vinyl chloride and a plasticizer therefor, e.g. dibutyl phthalate, dioctyl phthalate, or tricresylphosphate, which is convertible to a porous gel, distributing textile fibres, e.g. by vibrator or electrostatic field, over the coating and heating the coating to convert it to a porous gel and anchor the fibres therein. The porosity may be produced by beating air into the coating composition adding a blowing agent, e.g. ammonium bicarbonate, dinitrosopentamethylene tetramine, or azo diisobutyronitrile, which decomposes below the gelling temperature which is say 150-170‹C, to the composition before application to the backing material. A stabiliser, e.g. lead carbonate, may be added to the composition. Specification 588,447 is referred to. |
