description A shuttering system 1 suitable for forming a concrete raft or similar. The system 1 comprises a shutter member 3 having a profile defining a first wall 14 to restrain a mass of concrete 19 on the first side of the first wall 14, a base 16 and a second wall 15 to the second side of the first wall 14, opposite to the first side, which together define a cavity 8 which can be filled with concrete to subsequently support brickwork. Separate tie members 9 extend through the first wall 14 and into the cavity 8 to tie set concrete in the cavity 8 to a main body of set concrete 19 in the formed raft. The shutter member 3 is formed from a relatively rigid frame 10, is covered at least on one side by a relatively thin flexible membrane 13, with the tie member 9 adapted to be assembled on the shutter member on site 3, by being pushed through the flexible membrane 13 and clipped in place on the frame 10 to brace the first wall 14 against the second wall 15 or base 16, to retain the main body of concrete 19 prior to setting. The membrane may be shrink wrapped onto the frame and the frame profile may nest together. The tie member may be angled between 30 to 60 degrees with respect to the base or may extend perpendicular to the first wall.
