Tremor stabilisation apparatus

An apparatus for reducing effects of tremors on an area of a human body comprises an inelastic attachment with a gyroscope mount and a gyroscope device 50 which may include an electric motor. A joint stabilisation device may comprise an elastic linkage or an elongate rigid linkage 70 coupled between the gyroscope mount 52 on one side of a wearer's joint with a joint movement retardation device 74 mountable on the other to apply a retardation force to counter flexing of the joint. Various stabilisation devices, which may incorporate a universal joint 71, are disclosed (figures 10-16) and include a pair of opposing elastic members; elastic bands centrally biasing a head within a cup; an electromagnetically actuatable disc brake; a dashpot optionally having a controllable bypass channel; a fluid damper within a flexible housing; and Bowden cables actuated by linear actuators.
