description A holding apparatus having a receiving member 5 for attaching to a main body (e.g. furniture or door frame), and an engagement member 6 for attaching to a movable body (e.g. a drawer, sliding door). The receiving member 5 has a base part 10, a first and second elastic piece 11 12 each supported by the base part 10, the engagement member 6 has an engaging protrusion 8 that passes between the first and second elastic pieces 11 12 and is held at a holding position P. An interval or gap between the elastic pieces 11 12 is narrower than the engaging protrusion 8 at one side of the holding position P. The first elastic piece 11 bends more easily than the second elastic piece 12. This could be due to the pieces only being connected at one end or being of different thickness. Preferably there is an interval on both sides of the holding position. The length or position of the engaging protrusion may be adjustable in a direction perpendicular to the moving direction e.g. by being in an oval shape or mounted offset on the base (Fig 6a-c and Fig 8a/b).
