description A method comprising controlling, based on temperature, which of a plurality of power 20, 22, 24 sources of a vehicle battery 16 are coupled to a starter circuit during vehicle ignition. The temperature sensor 74 may be located in the battery 16. The first power source may comprise lithium type cells, the second lead-acid type cells and the third may be an ultracapacitor type cell. Each cell may be carried by an H7 sized container. The battery may also comprise an isolation circuit including a switch, which is actuated depending on whether the start condition is a cold start or warm start. When the switch is in the first position all of the power sources may be connected to the starter circuit, and when in the second position at least one power source may be isolated from the starter circuit. The method may be associated with a stop start mode in a vehicle.
