Structural element

A structural element 10 for forming a panel, with an upper sheet 12 and lower sheet 14 which are parallel and deformed along their plane at intervals by pods 16 which extrude toward the opposing plane with their internal faces engaging one another. The sheets 12, 14 may be of substantially identical size and shape, and the pods 16 may be frustoconical or multi-sided with the internal faces being circular or square. The internal face of the pods may be removed and the removal may leave a flange. The sheets 12, 14 may further comprise strengthening portions such as ridges between pods 16 where there is space provided between pods, or the pods 16 may be arranged such that just a grid remains in the upper plane where the edges of the pods meet. The connected pods 16 may form substantially diamond beam formations with adjacent pods 16 where the diamond beams may be flattened at top and/or bottom and may form frustrums. Also provided is a method of producing the structural element 10 via a pressing method. A pallet comprising the structural element 10 where the pallet may have a base formed of legs or skids and may be designed to stack atop one another. The structural element may be offset above the legs such that one edge forms and overhang and the pallets may be designed to stack such that the overhang alternates from one side to another between adjacent pallets. Further provided are; a skateboard, a package, furniture items, a vehicle panel and building materials comprising the structural element.
