description A generator comprises a stator disposed about a rotor and a stator mounting framework comprising a spring bar 78 coupled to an outer annular support and a key bar 82 coupled to the stator, both bars being aligned with the rotating axis of the rotor. An alignment adapter or H-beam 84 is disposed radially between the spring-bar and key-bar and has an outer recess 100 to hold the springbar and an inner recess 98 to hold the keybar in circumferential alignment via the relative circumferential position of the inner and outer recesses. The inner and outer recesses may be offset and the adapter may be selected from plural adaptors having different circumferential offsets. A radial adjustment shim 86 in either recess may be selected from plural shims having different thicknesses. A bolt hole 92 may be oversized with respect to the shaft of a bolt 88 that couples the key bar to the spring bar. The generator mounting system may comprise a kit of different thickness shims and different alignment adaptors allowing alignment of the stator within the framework by selection of the shim and adaptor. The system allows large tolerances for the spring bar position, without machining, reducing construction cost.
